Special Advisory Commission on Management Issues (SACMI)
The Special Advisory Commission on Management Issues (SACMI) was created at the initiative of the Director General of IICA, through Resolution No. 341 of the Inter-American Board of Agriculture (IABA). This resolution was adopted at the Board’s Tenth Regular Meeting in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, in October 1999.
The SACMI is an advisory body of the highest level, whose purpose is to facilitate dialogue among the Member States, and between the Director General and the Member States, on administrative and financial matters.
The nine members of the Commission are selected based on the concept of partial rotation and equitable geographic distribution. Representatives are chosen from the four groups into which IICA’s Member States are divided. Six members represent each of the countries in Group I. They sit on the commission for two years. The remaining three members represent each of the other three groups, for a one-year period.
