IICA Heritage Overview
Origin of the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences goes back to the basic of creation of an inter-American Institute on tropical agriculture contained in Resolution XVI of the First Inter-American Conference on Agriculture, held in Washington in 1930. The form and existence of the Inter-American Institute of Agriculture, appointed by the Governing Board of the Pan American Union in compliance with two resolutions from Section IV of the Eighth American Scientific Congress was held in Washington in May, 1940.
